Dear Rotarians:

I recently received a report from our colleague in this project, Bob Jarvest
(Whitby Sunrise Club), along with some photos he took at the site in
Consuelo, Dominican Republic which I've attached.

Bob had just returned from a visit there during which he distributed 16 of
an available 50 filters to needy households. He said the enthusiasm with
which they were received made his efforts both exciting and rewarding. In
one home the owner had taken orders from her neighbours for 12 more units
within three days of receiving her own.

After returning, Bob had expected things might slow down a little. How wrong
he was! Our partner, the Consuelo Rotary Club, e-mailed last Wednesday to
say that the 34 remaining filters had been distributed and set up and orders
placed for 100 more.

I thought that you would like to see these pictures and learn how successful
the first half of our contribution has been in providing clean water where
it is needed most.

Bob has asked that I thank everyone in our Club for their participation in
this great project. He would like to see someone (or two) from our Club
visit Consuelo in January 2007 to see the project first-hand. I think we
must have someone go. Please let me know if you would be interested. Bob is
going to keep me informed re dates, etc.
